
Online, you’re encouraged to add recycling the pods into your ‘coffee ritual’, which is possible by taking them to a CollectPlus store to be taken away if you're based in the UK, or straight to a Nespresso boutique. Nespresso has defended its use of aluminum, saying it helps keep the coffee fresh, and that aluminum is infinitely recyclable. The Centrifusion brewing process uses centrifugal forces (high speed spinning) to extract flavor.

Nespresso’s coffee pods have had a makeover too, the Vertuo system uses enticing colors, and while the machine looks pretty low-key, it’s deceptive. It’s sleek, it’s pretty self-contained, and there are few kitchens, living rooms, or offices that you couldn’t sneak one of these into.
